19 of Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hard surfaces

A revitalized the Russian player secured his first championship for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a former number one, has endured a torrid year, managing just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought three-set victory over opponent Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial trophy after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface from that period of the previous year.

Victory also signifies Medvedev has achieved twenty-one victories at 21 different events.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a title is particularly special," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my child her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, featuring in that event previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive approach and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had led commentators to question if his skill to compete at the highest level was concluded.

However the player has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and perform aggressively, reinforced by an improved serve.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, taking four of the last five games to go ahead.

Both players exchanged break points in the second set before Moutet, striving for his initial professional victory, gained dominance to create a final set.

The opponent rescued 4 early-game opportunities in a close final set before the champion secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he secured victory with a rally at the net, with Moutet incapable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
